Dancing shoes

In June, on the 21st, to be exact, our cousin and your niece Jennifer got married.

We were all thrilled - her fiancé was a lovely man - and it was nice to have something both happy and fun going on in the family. Uncle John flew in from San Francisco, and he stayed with us for a few days, a little over six weeks after we moved into the house in Sea Cliff.

The wedding was as a pretty spot in Northport, and all day Uncle John was bugging me about making sure we left early enough. He was terrified we were going to be late for some reason. Anyway, we did leave really early, but of course you and mom were already there.

The ceremony was outdoors, and when the party got going, it really got going. We (you, me, Idriss, John, Aunt Terry, Jennifer) and occasionally Mom and some of Terry's nieces hit the dance floor. Of course, nobody could dance like Uncle John and Idriss - they were just killing it. We partied like that for hours, and had such a blast. At numerous points in the evening, you leaned over to me and said "Look at Idriss move." Idriss, if you're reading this, you already know you're an incredible dancer.

You were always like that at parties. You just knew how to let your hair down and have a good time. I remember growing up, you would be the first person out on the dance floor at our friends' bar mitvahs! And you would grab glowsticks or whatever type of party freebie they were giving out, and use them in your dancing as props. Your enthusiasm, however, outdid your skill :-) Just like me.

Anyway, I remember thinking, since Idriss and I had had a small wedding, that it had been forever since we had what felt like a big family party. I am so, so glad that Jennifer got married this June and that you got to be at it with your whole family. It is such a lovely memory to have.

On the day before you died, Jennifer came you see you in the hospital. After she came, she emailed me a picture of you and she at her wedding. She loves this picture. I showed you, and you loved it too. So I'm posting it here, in honor of the last wedding you attended, and the niece you loved.
